After the fill assembly on my '89 SPG just about lost the filler door because it cracked, I put in a used fill assembly from an '83. I've found the the best used ones are from '84 and earlier. Most of the ones I've encountered in pick-n-pulls from '84 and earlier have NO cracks, even though the cars have at least 150k miles. All of the ones from '86 and later are cracked, no matter how low the mileage.
Somewhere along the line, SAAB started to use a different, less durable plastic in the fill assemblies.
