George, I have used BonAmi, Stoner's window cleaning spray, and I have a tube of glass stripper that works well, but I forget the brand name. It's sort of like a mild rubbing compound. The Bon Ami that I use is ancient and I have heard rumors that they have changed the formula and the new formula can scratch glass.
All three of these get the glass clean and Stoner's spray works well with newpaper balls to avoid and film. This spray is what I use on the interior surfaces.
I have personally given up on Rainex for the windshield. With Raines on the windshield, my wipers don't "grip" the glass and smear the water. The Rainex water beading feature doesn't last that long to avoid the use of wipers entirely. On the side and rear windows, i still occasionally use Rainex when motivated to a do a complete detailing exercise(rare). I also put some rainex on a new set of headlights on the chance that the rainex will reduce road debris sandblasting...we'll see.
