My dream car from age of 13 was Austin-Healey. (I was 13 in 1954, when the first Healeys hit USA). I begged and borrowed older friends Healeys until age 21, when my new Boeing career paid for a used '57 100-Six. I owned two more, finishing up with 22 years on a '67 3000 Mk III, which I bought new Sep '67 in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and sold in 1990. 30 years devoted to Big Healeys, for which I am very proud, and very thankful.
There was a pristine '74 MGB GT in there once, and a nice '61 Mini that pretended to be a Cooper, but wasn't. I always lusted after a Jag Mk II 3.8 too, but never fancied the e-types.
My Life With Saabs began in 1978 with a dark green '72 99 coupe, then an even sweeter '78 99 EMS hatchback ( cardinal red). Long gap where I piloted a series of Dodge vans, a Chevy Monte SS, couple of Trans-Ams, and other ilk. Back with Saabs 3 yrs ago - first a one owner '85 Turbo, and now my cherished '89 SPG, which I will never part with.
English-Swedish connection? Yeah Shur!! Cars with great character, cars with great style - what's not to like?
