like i said , with some tools , it's kind of fun. i sandblasted the components once taken apart, ready for painting or powder coating, then installation of the new bearing.
first take out the visible circlip (snap ring).
then get a drift that fits the diameter of the axle spline.
with the studs facing down, support the assembly (we used a big flat bearing puller mounted above the hub but below the sheild.. the puller then sat on and between two strong supports (railroad track anvils)).
then hammer down on the drift, pushing the hub down and out of the bearing. the hub may come out clean, without the inner bearing race attached to it, due to the shock of the hammering. otherwise, part of the inner race may stick to it. you'll need a two or three arm puller to get it off).
this will expose another circlip, which has to come off too, as you will press the bearing out that way.
then , using a drift as wide as the entire bearing, again support the assembly across two strong supports and start hammering (with a mighty big hammer, i'll add. if you have two sledge hammers, place one on the drift and hit down on it with the other hammer, so that you are not hitting right into the assembly).
unless you have these sorts of tools, it'll be impossible without a press.
and i would NOT recommend installing the new bearing this way, rather that is a job for the machine shop. (don't forget to have them put Loctite Red on the inner race to keep the hub from shifting in the bearing and Clunking when you are backing up and turning sharply).
post and let us know.
