To be honest, if you don't want to keep spending money to have your Clarion working, you should get a newer style radio.
I know, I'm not to happy about these "fire breathing" dragons that is sold everywhere nowadays either, but the Saab Clarion stereo is a weak product that is prone to failure.
Clarion headquartes have set pricing in their repairs and $80.00 is the going rate for most of the equipment repair (they only leave 3 month warranty though). If they can't repair it, they usually replace it with another used rebuilt unit.
They recommend that you go through the local Saab dealer though since you get 1 year warranty through them, but the dealer also jack up the price to double for the service.
