Dan,
I would almost bet money that your clutch master cylinder is faulty. However, if you saw a leak and that leak was clutch/brake fluid, I'd think the fluid level in your clutch/brake fluid reservoir would go down.
I had both the clutch master cylinder AND slave cylinder go out on me recently on my '84S. Whew! The master cylinder didn't leak VISIBLY on mine because it had an internal leak past the piston seal inside so it didn't show on the outside--if your m.c. was leaking, it would drip from the underdash area or down the engine side of the firewall.
The slave cylinder was next to go on mine. It leaked all of a sudden--"when it rains, it pours" like the Morton salt ad--and clutch fluid just streamed out of the clutch housing's lower rectangular inspection hole. The fluid level in the reservoir went down quickly, too. I barely made it home from the nearest gas station (a 1.5 mile trip).
This hasn't happened on mine (thank goodness), but the rubber clutch master-cylinder-to-slave-cylinder pressure hose can leak at the point the metal collar clamps the metal line portion onto the rubber hose.
My guess is that it's your master cylinder, though. Like I said, they can go bad and not necessarily have a visible leak.
