As always, check the fuse first.
It is a typical failure for the rheostat (dimmer) which controls the instrument lights to fail. Sometimes it will just quit working, other times it will only get so bright and then nothing. Try twisting it all the way down and back up again while looking at the instrument light bulbs (through the speaker hole). If not, get out a voltmeter and start playing.
Keep in mind there are two rheostats- one for the instruments themselves and one for the radio, ventilation controls, and pushbuttons.
