Single-cylinder start: Help needed!

Car is a 1987 900 turbo with C-Jetronic injection. that's just had it's head and turbo changed. This morning the following happened:
Engine started up normally, I then drove five meters and it started sputtering. I hit Neutral, tried revving it up, but it just died on me. Reverse back into parking space, then new attempt at starting it. Now it appears to only ignite on one cylinder, and it definetely won't start. In addition I'm getting water out the tail pipe with no taste of coolant.
It appears that my new head and/or gasket have failed. But how can it happen so quickly? I've driven the car for 600 kilometres, with the only problem being slight sputtering while warm-starting.
Is it possible that there's something else giving me this problem? Something with fuel control or anything? I don't want to do another head job. Rather a new Saab....
