Hi All,
I've got the 92' T Clarion deck with the tape up high and the CD/EQ down low. It has very low volume intermittently and I think the pre-amps going. Won't work when its humid.
I've pulled it out. Cleaned contacts. etc. Now I'm tired of messing with it.
Should I send it to Saab Radio for a rebuild @ $185?
Replace with mid-range Alpine or low end Eclipse for $200 or so?
Hook up a Sony ES deck that I pulled from my old Saab that's circa 1997?
The Sony's solid, from when they made good stuff, it's rated at 35x4 and sounded great in my 89'. I just don't want to go through the trouble of wiring up something six years old and then having it fail in six months. It was like $500 in its day.
I know I have to run rear speaker wire and bypass the amp. The car's got JBL 4"s up front and some decent Kenwood 4x10"s in the back.
Someone tell me what to do. I'm tired of thinking about this stuff.
How will an Alpine at $200 today compare with the old Sony and the stock Clarion?
The other truly lazy option is to pick up a stock Clarion tape deck from the used parts place for $50 and put it in the trunk for when mine fails for good.
Off to do the plugs/cap/rotor.
