Convertible Window Adjustment Q's.....

My drivers side window motor died about a year ago and I took it to my not-so-favoriate tech as he was closer to the house and my window was stuck half down in a rain storm. Anyways, about a month ago, the window would bind going down into the door so much so that it would stop and I'd have to go up and then down again.
Upon looking inside the door, the leading rubber stopper (the edge closest to the hood), was completely missing, as was the channel it rides in!!!!!
Needless to say, I am not a happy camper, as I greased the thing maybe a month before 'Captain America', decided it was no longer needed during my window motor install!
Sorry, the short question is: I am supposing that this missing piece would cause a bind, since it wasn't doing this before (the leading edge seems to be catching first)? All the bolts were loose in the door, but even after tightening, the thing shows signs of what's to come.
Thanks all...
