There are 2 philosophies on the inner CV joint grease:
- Use the original Meistersatz type grease. It's loaded with lead and other metals for the high contact point pressures in the joint and it's liquid enought to get into the spaces in the needle bearings.
- Use synthetic high temp wheel bearing grease.
For the outers, use synthetic CV joint grease. It's loaded with moly and it's the perfect thing.
I've asked around about the strap clamps. The ones that come with the CV boot kits just aren't available separately. It's too bad, too. You *can* get a type of strap clamp from NAPA, but it uses a different tool than you use on the ones that come in the boot kits.
