I think that if you remove the two large bolts holding the rack, you should be able to rotate the rack just enough to get a wrench on the hard line to the rack. You might have to unhook the ujoint from the spindle, too. I'm pretty sure you can leave the tie-rod ends hooked up. Stubby 16/18mm wrenches make it easier to loosen the rack/pipe fittings. Still a dirty job, but you know that already!!!
Anders can probably do this with his eyes closed, so maybe it's time to bail and have the pro do it.
