Rebuilt axles go for $75 per side, that gets you a refurbished inner and outer CV with new boots. Check Jeff and Royce's site http://www.twinsaabs.com for a pictorial on how to replace. If you have the appetite for this level of DIY, you can skip several steps in their procedure as you are putting in an assembled axle, thus some of the messier and harder work is done for you. Ball joints run about $20 each with new bolts from board suppliers, also replace your sway bar ends and lower shock bushings (cheap - a few bucks each). For $20 more per side you can put in new outer tie rod ends and you have covered virtually everything so your steering will be like new.
If you have a shop do it, make sure you know if they are putting in just new outer CVs or doing refurbished axles (it saves them time too so don't pay for new if they do refurbished)
