Clutch trouble, brake leak, related? (long)

1991 SPG. Clutch was not working properly, intermittently the friction point was at the floor. Diagnosed a bad slave cylinder. I should also mention that at the same time the clutch started to get real bad, I noticed a mess on the driver's side front wheel. It looks like the caliper has a leak, there is brake fluid all over the wheel and on the wheel well. The brakes work fine and the fluid level in the resovoir is ok.
The slave cylinder has been replaced, have not fixed the brakes yet. Bled the slave using the pressure bleeder. The clutch was working great on the test drive. After driving for 1/2 hour or so the problem returned. Friction point has dropped.
My theories: 1. I may not have tightened the bleeder screw at the new slave sufficiently, and have a leak. 2. The wheel has a bad caliper, is allowing air into the system and thereby affecting the clutch.
Help! Anyone with a similar experience? I have seen the abs and brake idiot lights come on, but they go off on their own.
Thanks,
Dan
