Brake Question on 93 900TC

Still searching for the right 900TC to buy...my leading candidate is a 93 900TC with relatively low miles and good maintenance by the 2 previous owners, including head gasket replacement. Test drove it a few days ago and it performed quite splendidly with only one driving issue which I'd like to solicit opinions on:

The brakes felt slightly mushy. The car stopped okay - but nowhere near as quickly or convincingly as my 1991 Isuzu Trooper, which has 4-wheel disc brakes and has some of the best (most powerful / instantaneous) braking response of any vehicle I've ever driven.

The guy (a relatively pleasant and knowledgeable SAABie) who is selling the vehicle told me that the pads were in fact worn, needed replacement on all 4 wheels, and he predicted that once I had done so, the braking feel of the car would improve measurably (and immeasurably).

My question for all you serious 900 owners is: is he right? Do 1993's have good brakes? I know this ia a year with ABS braking - and I know some folks have mentioned some mushiness issues which may be related to the (complexity?) of the ABS system .... BUT - if I replace the brake pads on all 4 wheels .... how good will the braking be?

Thanks for your opinions.
