The bolt is an 8mm. Not fine thread, 1.25 I think. Get one about 1 1/2" 35-40mm long.
Re: the pressure plate spacer, if your current master and slave cylinders are working, have a helper hold down the pedal(broomstick) and put the wire in. I find aluminum ground wire 4 or 6 gauge is easier to manage than the spark wire.
If your slave is shot, then I would just saw through the slave piston. It's aluminum and a hacksaw with a FRESH blade will cut through in a few minutes. Sawzall is ideal and takes seconds. Be sure to pop out the clutch shaft first, so you don't try to cut through it, too.
To compress the new pressure plate for wire insertion prior to installation, you can put it flat on the ground and use your car jack in the jacking point above the plate. Find a suitable piece of wood between the bottom of the jack and the plate fingers. I once jacked the plate against a door jamb using a short baseball bat as the special tool to contact the fingers. Under the car is easier!!!
