While driving to work on the freeway in my 84 900 Turbo, I suddenly lost power(45mph max for 30 seconds) although the accelerator was floored. The turbo boost gauge read "no turbo response" (10:00 position on the gauge).
After backing off the accelerator, the turbo worked properly again.
Could a turbo fail like this? i.e. is it typical to sieze up intermittently before failing for good?
How do you know when your turbo is starting to go? Any other ideas what might be wrong?
