Need help installing Alarm/Keyless entry (Part I) Posted by Ken [Email] (#2113) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ken) on Wed, 22 Oct 2003 19:42:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm trying to install an aftermarket alarm system on my 88 900 8 valve. I know I have to replace the door lock switch in the drivers door with a motor. I actually have an extra one from a passenger door, PLUS the alarm came with a set of "universal" door lock motors. Should I just install the Saab motor that I already have and connect the wires to pins 7 and 8 of the control unit? Also, the alarm has a 3 wire connector to power the door locks.
Green wire - negative pulse for LOCK
Red wire - +12V (for relays)
Blue wire - negative pulse for UNLOCK
So how do these connect to the central lock control unit? In Bentley's wiring diagrams, it appears that pins 1,2 and 3 of the control unit are connected to the driver's door "switch", with pin 3 being ground.
Any help with this and the many other questions yet to come will be much appreciated.
