1. Remove the driver's side speaker grill.

2. Push down (or pull up, I forget which) the clip holding the cable to the speedo.

3. Pull the cable from the speedo.

4. Reach down inside and get the cable out from under the metal clip attached to the inside of the bulkhead.

5. Find where the cable exits the bulkhead by the alternator. Remove the cable from the same type clip on the outside of the bulkhead.

6. Pull the rubber grommet out of the bulkhead and draw out the cable.

7. Jack up the front of the car with all proper precautions (jackstands, etc.).

8. Find where the driver's side inner driver attaches to the differential housing. There is a retaining clip held by a 12mm bolt that holds the other end of the speedo cable and the drive gear in place where it enters the differential. Loosen the clip and draw out the cable and gear assembly. Make sure the little gear comes out as well.

9. Using two large plyers, remove the gear assembly from the end of the cable.

10. Put the rubber grommet and the gear assembly on the new cable and reverse order to install. Make sure the gear assembly fits all the way down into the housing so that the retaining clip easily holds it in place. I screwed this up once and it chewed up the gear.
