yes, you need a new master cylinder. you can rebuild it with an inexpensive kit that you can buy from a saabnet sponsor. a new master cylinder should run you around $90 (OEM is Lockheed btw). i didn't have the time to rebuild nor did i want to do the job twice so i sucked it up & bought a new one.

the clutch line conveys fluid from the master to the slave. there is a rubber hose portion that can blow out with age/use. as i mentioned, if you're with the car for the long haul, consider replacing it at the same time.

you can have a hydraulics shop re-fit a new hose piece. be certain, however, that the technician maintains the exact same orientation between the two metal lines with respect to each other when he fits a new piece (you'll see what i mean when you pull the line out). failure to do this will mean you won't be able to get the line back in the car! :-(

a brand new aftermarket clutch line costs about 45 to 50 bucks.

have a water hose handy to spray down the inevitable brake fluid flows when doing the master cyl job. also, attach the line to the master before you tighten the master to the firewall.

may as well flush all hydraulics now, too. i'm not great at this - usually takes me a whole quart to get it all clean. DOT4 only, btw.

inspect your clutch pedal for elongation of the hole. the newer ones have a bushing in them to prevent this (87 and newer??). if your pedal is worn out, it is prolly exaserbating the master cyl problem. i just got a used one recently for 15 dollars; it's in brand-new condition :-). on existing pedal, can also drill out the hole and use a bigger pin. or drill out and use a brass bushing, etc.
