It's not a hard job, but the fuel pump isn't cheap so you'll probably want to rule out the other parts like the fuel filter or the fuel pressure regulator.
The fuel filter is cheap and it's not too difficult to replace. It's just tiring to be on your back under the car with your arms up in the air. I always get a bunch of gas in my face too!
I wound up replacing my fuel pump which cost me several hundred dollars only to find out that the problem I was experiencing was due to a bad fuel pressure regulator. The pressure regulators are inexpensive.
Maybe try some premium gas and techron cleaner too?
If you've ruled out your relays, fpr, clogged injectors, fuel quality, and fuel filter, maybe it's time to tackle the pump. You remove the board from the bottom of the hatch to expose the opening for the pump. There will be two "manhole" looking covers. The larger one closer to the middle is for the pump. The smaller one is for the fuel level sensor. Everything comes apart pretty easily. Be careful you don't break or kink the fuel line, the electrical connection for the prepump is inside the tank, and you might want to use a swivel elbow to help you get to the large hoseclamp that attaches the rubber boot to the top of the tank.
