Getting fun now with these brakes!

1) I was bleeding out the brakes this afternoon so I could put in all new brake fluid. Got to the last caliper, left rear, and the bleeder even moves - SNAP off breaks the top of the bleeder valve! I gotta laugh, I can't get mad! Now understand, live in Somerville, MA and I don't have a garage so I do my repairs on the quietest street I can find. So I'm thinking about where I can push the car until next week when the new capiler comes in the mail, when I notice no fluid is coming out the mostly broken off bleeder. So I ask my "helper" a/k/a the woman that is my patient faithful spouse, to pump the brakes and turn on the ABS pump/accumilator(?). She does, and no fluid comes out of the bleeder. So I finish bleeding as much fluid as I can from the other side, refill the reservoir, pump up the pressure in the brakes to normal, and still no leak from the broken bleeder. Drive the car two blocks, test the brakes (good) at 30mph, park the car- still no leak at the broken bleeder.

So the question is, do I need ground the car until I get a new caliper, or is the break pointless since the bleeder never opened (aside from not begin able to bleed on that side) and just keep driving like normal?

2) I replaced the rear pads 1,000 mi ago. When adjusting the piston using the allen hex adjusting screw, I adjusted the brakes so a small amount of resistance was on the rotor, but I could turn the rotor by hand. But now, both when the brake fluid was empty, and refull, the brakes are so tight on the rotor, I need the tire on to move the rotor/wheel. Sounds like I need to just loosen the piston adjusting screw some? Right?

3) Some of you may have read my post from earlier this week regarding my failure at MA inspection with the inspector saying my rear brakes would not lock up and my ABS is not working. Well, I'm appealing offically to the state b/c I called up RMV and I guy there said the test sounded like BS and antilock systems are not tested as part of the MA inspection. So, I'll post when I get a result and hopefully help out any one in MA who might get screwed in the same way.

Now to fix my inner driver problem! :)
