EGR valve/Emissions

Hi!
Due to emissions tests coming I will probably have to make the EGR valve operational. The problem is that the previous owner cut the small hose (vacuum I think) which is connected to the EGR valve diaphragm. So, where does this hose attach to? On top of it, I think the diaphragm is broken too (doen not hold vacuum). Can the EGR valve be replaced with another of similar type?
