first loosen the axle nut - this takes a huge 32mm socket and a long breaker bar - you car only do it effectively when the tire is touching the ground.
Also jam a wedge (or a pair of tire irons) in under the upper a-arm - this keeps the spring from completely decompressing.
then jack up the car (use a stand) and take the wheel off.
of course you should loosen and remove the brake caliper - use a coat hanger or a zip-tie to support it(from the spring), don't allow it to hang by the brake line.
Next take off the brake disc.
Now you'll need to loosen three ball joints, the upper, the lower, and the tie rod end(in the back, close to the wheel well, attached to the steering rack) . In my experience the upper and lower joints are easiest to remove if you attack the 2 through bolts on each one. I think the tie rod end is easiest if you loosen the lock nut on the bottom of it (removing it from the rack requires an alignment).
after these five fasteners are loose all you have to do is take off the axle nut, tap the axle a few times with a small hammer, and then take the steering member in to scanwest.
I find that Liquid wrench made this job much easier the first time.
