Overheatin', so I ordered up a new thermostat and radiator from Jim Moncrief at Sobstory. Arrives the next day!!!! I was amazed. I still am. He really is impressive. Then the torture began.

Prepared myself by getting all new screws to re-attach the fans. Had all my tools in order, my kid in daycare, and Wednesday is my day off. Thought I was set.

Pulling the unit was easy, even in a turbo. Would have been more enjoyable if the damned rad flush valve wasn't stuck, but hey, no real biggy as I just opened the lower hose up. The radiator retainer screws twisted in half, but I strapped the rad in securely with plastic ties and knew I could get new screws and nuts from the hardware store anytime. I was crusin'. I swaped the electronic sensor and even the front rubber shroud without a hitch. I should have known things were too perfect.

For a while now I have been bitching about electrical gremlins. After replacing the new rad and getting ready to install the fans, I saw it, or should I say them. The electrical grounding harness on the passenger side held down by a bolt. I have heard of it being problematic before, and why was now brutally apparent. Resembling a woman with frizzy hair, there were several wires that had pulled free of this $hitty thing. What's more, the thickest of the wires was actually rotted 1 inch up into the insulation, and even one inch up there was corrosion. F___in' A!

I have cluged the system back together, but I can see that this Sunday when I should be doing my "Al Bubndy half naked on the couch watching football routine", I will instead need to remove the IC pipes, pull my fan, and spend some quality time with acid, flux, and my trusty soldering gun. Dare I say it....fluxed again!

Adding insult to injury.... My efforts at a cluge still did not correct my headlight or interior lighting (or lack of) problems.

It's a good thing my car's engine kicks butt, otherwise she might be on her way to the scrapper as we speak.
