That sounds really strange. When you filled it, did you check the hose from the reservoir down to the clutch master? If that came off or leaked, it leaves a little fluid in the reservoir so the brakes don't go dry. Once you get the clutch circuit full of air, it would explain the clutch pedal staying down.
But I don't know how that hose can come off, leak out, then re-connect itself??
Where did it leak out? (Yeah, I know - "on the driveway") Under the clutch master or under the slave?
I don't think you can get it hot or cold enough to really make something like this happen just because of temperature.
