4X10 to 6x9 adapters

Greetings,
After putting up with those horrendous 4X10's for too long, I've decided to put some decent 6x9's in the back using the adapters available from various places.
I'm also going to get components for the front. Currently I have an Alpine 9815 head unit, but no amplifier.
So... the question is... does anyone have any pictures of what the adapter setup looks like? Trawling through the archives has given me a pretty good idea of the effort involved, but I'm curious to know if I should be considering fabricating my own adapters so that it looks nicer, or whether the available adapters are sufficient.
Also, does anyone know if any 5.25" speakers will fit in the 4" slots at the front? I'll probably have to measure the mounting dimensions, but I've heard that some of the newer 5" speakers will fit the old 4" mounting patterns...
Thanks!
Vincent Ting.
