Call up the shop that did the service and ask them what they used. It never hurts to ask, worst case, they say tey don't know. When I bought my 92, I had a question about the airbag that the owner could not answer. I called the Saab indi that performed the work, he advised the resistance was too high in airbag, and it would not work. He knew the car & the work without even looking it up.
With the amount of miles you have, try to stay with whatever has been used. If it stinks, its gear oil, if not, maybe motor oil. Switching to synthetic may be risky without a flush. Even a flush could be risky in a ttans with that many miles, as the crud in the bottom could be pushed into the bearings.
