Hi folks,

I just came from the local big chain parts store (Advance). I wheedled myself into buying the more expensive of the two Bosch offerings in the wiper blade arena, the Micro Edge EXCEL--not the plain Micro Edge.

As someone mentioned when I posted six months ago (the time I last changed my wiper blades), the Micro Edge EXCEL blades are longer than plain M.E. type, about 1/2" difference by eyeballing, maybe more. JohnK noticed this, and says they are, in reality, the 17" blades.

I didn't remember it being "documented" here until after the fact, just now looking at replies to my old post: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/900/index.html?bID=232087

Apparently, for the M.E. blades, Bosch's design changed the length of the small "arms" which pinch the rubber squeegee. These are shortened in the new "improved" wiper blades, resulting in less ability of the squeegee to bend around the very curved SAAB windshield on the OG900. The M.E. EXCEL blades, though, seem to have the same longer squeegee "arms" from the old M.E. design I loved so much...

I guess I should've gotten OEM SAAB blades--I will definitely try to next time I need blades. These super-dooper Bosch blades cost $9.99 each. Real SAAB blades HAVE to be cheaper, or, if not less expensive, then more satisfying for the $$$$$!
