For best storage you should change/flush all the fluids - oil, trans oil, brake & clutch fluid, coolant. All these pick up contaminants and moisture as time passes. When stored everything gets cold and stays cold and the moisture precips out and onto surfaces causing corrosion. If you do drive during the winter wqash all of the car as often as possible, including the underside and engine compartment where road moisture splashes. I used to go to the spray car wash every couple weeks and spray down the underside for quite a while to flush as much of the salt chemicals off and out. Same goes for the top fabric - the salt that splashes onto it will not do it any good if left on to eat at it. Once the salt is there, it attracts moisture and starts the corrosion that the 'salt' states suffer from. if you work at it you can drive your car in the winter with little damage from the salts & chemicals if you work at washing it all off on a regular basis.
