i did a search on this problem and got no helpful hints - had to solve it myself. all the search found me was the old 'screw the piston in further'. no-one said to screw it in AND pull the yoke out, AND use the special brake tool.
The yoke has to be pulled outwards quite a ways in order to make enough room to get the outside pad in. This pushes the piston out at the same time, but unless you have the Saab brake tool, its kind of tight (between the rotor and the piston) to get circlip pliers in there to rotate it back.
that is the dilemma.
its more time consuming to take the caliper off, but you can at least pull the yoke out and then screw the piston in easily, and set it all up for an easy pad install. Unfortunately you will have to bleed the brakes, undo e-brake cable, brake line, etc and it's a mess.
If you do take the calipers off, make sure you have back-up snap rings . i belive they are 9/16ths. If you have lots of time its neat to take the calipers off, take them apart and inspect them and see how they work. you can also check for potential seized indirect piston and adjust the e-brake, but its a total brake job at that point.
If anyone has a better idea, i'm keen to hear it too.
