Just last year, maybe 5,000 miles ago, I had the 92 900S in for a broken shift linkage; trusted indie repaired it for under $200. Today I ran a short errand with the car and with no warning (same as the last time) the car would not catch 1st or 2nd gear. Shifter sort of flopped around loose.
Managed to get third gear and was able to drive 10 miles to same trusted indie (no traffic and only caught one light!)without smoking the clutch.
My question is, what would cause the car to go 180,000 miles on the original linkage and then only 5,000 or so on its fix? I assume the indie replaced parts and didn't just snap something worn back together again. Should I be looking for a cause? I'm the only driver and the car is in good shape, never hit.
Happy Thanksgiving and thanks in advance.
