I don't really understand what you are getting. With teh dip switches flipped, it now arms. That sounds good. It could be that it is still in valet mode, but I would think it would go out of valet mode when it is removed from the power. I have the both of them scanned, but will have to do it again 'cause I think they are corrupted somehow. Passive arming should occur when the interior light goes out. I am a bit unsure of exactly how it disarms, though, it owuld make sense that it happens when the door is unlocked with the key. I have no documentation with me right now, though. I am at my parent's house for turkey day. I'll have to check when I get back on Sunday. I must say that I have never really checked my alarm function. I am more concerned that it is a KE system and the flashing light would warn off would-be intruders. I'll have to check it when I get back.
