I run a well maintained '89 SPG Turbo. I do not use hard throttle in local street driving, and I cruise at 3400,3500 in 5th (75,76)when doing my crazy cross country trips to New York. I rolled up 18,000 miles on the road this spring and this fall. Good laboratory for oil and gas milage.
Combined city streets and I-5 trips around Seattle: 23,24 mpg
Consistant 3400 cruise I-90, I-80, I-87, I-88, I-81, I-77, I-40: 28,29mpg
I believe if I would drop revs to maybe 3200, would cross the 30 barrier. Can't do dat, though, cuz 34-3500 is my baby's "sweet spot". Just sings!
