Cold air blows from defroster ducts Posted by Baab [Email] (#1214) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Baab) on Tue, 9 Dec 2003 18:05:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Now that cold weather is here I'm having an annoying problem with cold air coming out of my '86 900S's defroster outlets. It's not a problem with engine temperature or heater core, as the heater itself is nice and toasty. The symptoms vary with the heater/defroster settings, this is what happens with heat set to maximum:
Heater only: Bottom outlets pour out hot air. Light flow of cold air from defroster and side outlets.
Heater/Defrost mix: Bottom outlets pour out hot air. Lukewarm air flows from defroster and side outlets.
Defroster only: Warmer air (still not as warm as it should be) blows out of the defroster and side outlets.
It's as if unheated air intended for the center vent is bleeding into the defroster system. What is the most likely cause of this? (I take it I'm looking at taking the dash apart and checking the vacuum gadgetry in order to try fixing this??)
