The little bit that gets past the filter can gum up rings and small orifices.
The PTFE manufacturer has publically said many times that PTFE is not intended for use in engines.
SAAB engines tend to wear better than other engines - you'll find lots of high-mileage 2.0 litre SAAB engines with no ring ridge and honing marks on the cylinder bores.
