I used screw-type barrel connectors from NAPA to splice the sensor wires. Testing shows 5 ohms across the sensor's heater element and full voltage to it when the engine is running. (I figure the signal connection splice is probably OK or I would be seeing no voltage or low voltage rather than the steady .5 volt.)

The Bentley manual suggests inducing a vacuum leak to check the sensor's response to mixture changes. I did this test and there was no voltage change, the sensor appears to be not responding. (Interestingly, Bentley says to disconnect the signal wire for testing. I tried both ways and had the same result.) However, the failure mode the manual mentions is that of *no* voltage produced by the sensor. Anybody seen one fail this way, putting out a steady voltage? It seems kind of bizarre to me, but admittedly I don't have a lot of experience with these devices.
