But it depends on which Volvo. I've had several in the last few months. The 850s are really nice but much more modern feeling--more comparible to a 9000. I've had two 960's recently which have the traditional Volvo feel, and since they have a locking rear differential, are surprisingly good in snow. I also had two 740's, one a turbo wagon. They were both nice cars, though the turbo was more fun to drive. The only real problem with rear wheel drive Volvos (without a locking diff) is that they are horible in snow. Classic 900s are much "sportier" feeling, but the real issue whether or not you drive in the snow. All Saabs are exceptional in snow (including convertibles) which is a big issue in Michigan where I live.
