Since my first post, i discovered that the sensor wire to the fuel modulating valve was disconnected. So i reconnected that and undertook
the air fuel mixture adjustment using a dwell meter. i get a dwell reading
of 40 during warmup or 45 percent (55/45) which seems ok. but the
warm value was 80 or 88 percent (12/88) which is way too lean. so i
reduced the warm value to 45 by turning the 3mm screw in the throttle housing counter clockwise about 180 degrees, to get a dwell reading of 45 or 50/50 percent value that is suggested in several postings here. unfortunately my CO reading at the smog station jumped to 54 g/ml. passing value is 20 and i had 32 before i reconnected the modulating valve wire. any ideas? Am i reading the dwell meter wrong or
is the ECU suspect? do fuel modulating valves go bad? david
