good evening all,
I just Wanted to reinforce something that many of you probably already know, but at least the knowledge is new to me and might be helpful to someone else who is new to Saabing. I just replaced my brake master cylinder recently and of course when you take it off you also have to braek the line going to the clutch master cyl. Well I bled the brakes and went to bleed the clutch and couldnt get the thing to come to life using the "Pump clutch up", "Release bleed valve", "close bleed valve" "pump clutch" method. I was working with my dad on this project and in 30 years he has probably bled 30 different clutch master cyl. on all different makes and never has he seen a problem getting one to come back using this method. Well the more i do on my Saab the more i realize these cars sometimes require some special techniques so i searched this bulletin board to see if i could find any info. I found someone who had said they used a bicylce pump and some fittings to pressurize the reservoir. Well i set this up and it took about two strokes of the pump and the master bled perfectly. I guess i am the fool for sitting in the driveway for an hour pumping my clutch in vain. Well another screw up on my part was the new reservoir on my brake master needed the bottom of the nipple to the clutch master cut off so fluid could flow. When i went to use my normal method of bleeding i just pushed all the fluid out of the clutch master cyl. It would not have required a starting from scratch bleed with my clutch if it wasnt for that. So anyway just a reminder for all those who go to bleed a their clutch... they wont start by just pumping the pedal and releasing the valve.
