between the earlier and later style cylinders, the holes into which the brake lines are fit are at different angles. i believe you would need to swap out the brake lines if you wanted to use the newer master cylinder.
i don't know if the volume between the two versions changed. i have read, however, that the 9k caliper has a larger internal volume, which gives you increased pedal travel. also note that the 9k calipers are heavier than the 900's; so are the 9k rotors if you use them.
imo, the 9k caliper upgrade isn't. the car will *not* stop more quickly (only better tires will do that) and it adds unnecessary unsprung weight. if also running the very heavy Aero rims (and, consequently, heavier tires), things get even worse.
bigger brakes allow you to stop harder and for longer before incurring fade, but they do not stop you any faster.
