This can be a number of things. Here's a few you can check. There is a U joint up against the firewall. Spray some degreaser on it; let it sit, then wash it off. Now spray the crap out of it with PB blaster, move steering around, spray more. Wait until the morn and see if this cured it. If not, get a turkey baster or a mity vac and suck as much fluid out of P.S. tank as possible. If you do not have a mity vac, put a vacuum hose or something that will fit over turkey baster and shove down as far as possible. Suck it out, pour some cheap fluid back in, start car, let idle move steering back and forth; turn car off, suck out again. Do this (maybe 5 times). Then fill up with good steering fluid and see if this fixes it. There is also a bearing in the steering column that can be replaced, but it is a bear. You can pull off horn cover and spray down there with WD40. You can also peal back knee bolster and spray the crap out of that area as well-I'm pretty sure there is another 'U' joint there as well. You have the same prob. my car had 5 years ago. Someone said that I would have to replace rack-yea right! I did the above and mine works fine after 5 years. Now I'm not saying you don't need a new rack. If the above does not work, maybe??
