What coolant leaks "on" the engine? A headgasket coolant leak is often coolant going into the cylinder and exhaust gas simultaneously being introduced into the coolant.
You can have a shop with a sniffer detect exhaust gas in the coolant resevoir. Or if you see a stream of bubbles coming out of the small hose to the coolant tank from the top of the radiator, that's another symptom. The signs of coolant "leakage" on the engine are typically white stains at the turbo exhaust flanges indicating coolant in the exhaust. But coolant usually doesn't leak directly from the head/block junction(not impossible but rare.
Coolant in the oil is a headgasket leaking in a different area. Anyway, assuming you have a bad headgasket, make sure the mechanic has the head checked for flatness and planed if needed, put in new valve seals and check the head for compression tightness. Replace any leaky valves. The timing chain should be checked for stretch and wear, and the lower timing chain sprocket checked for wear. Check oil pump seal for leaks. Check crank seal for leaks. If any leaks, now is a good time to replace crank seal, oil pump o-ring, and crank pulley(harmonic balancer).
