bad slave cylindar Posted by Pete [Email] (#2000) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Pete) on Mon, 29 Dec 2003 14:04:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The "brake fluid" light on my 91 900 was coming on intermittently and the fluid level was low (but above the "min" mark). No noticible symptoms in performance or pedal feel from either brakes or clutch. So I took it in, told them to check things out and while they were at it, to flush & refill the brake system (it seemed about time). The work was done on Xmas eve (in rather a hurry, it seemed to me), no probs reported (other than a "note" about an "internal" turbo oil leak!?), and the car was left for me to pick up. When I went to get it, the clutch pedal had no resistance. On examination, a puddle of hydraulic fluid was under the car, and I'm told I need a new slave cylindar.
Was this likely caused by something done by the tech (too high pressure in bleeding?) or is it just as likely that the slave was on its last legs (perhaps the --unnoticed & undiagnosed-- cause of the low fluid)?
