quick background (for the archives) -- probably around a month back i was driving on I66 when my car started bucking back and forth. it would stop, then start up again a couple minute later. RPMs would drop to zero if i put it in neutral while it was bucking. i made it to the haymarket exit and parked at sheetz. after getting out of my car and giving it a few nice, hard kicks, i decided to try it again. it started up, i reversed a little ways out of my space and then the engine died. it was cranking, but wouldn't fire.
after i called my dad and he came here to read some back posts, we decided it was the hall sensor wiring. the wiring harness near the distributor was basically falling to pieces. i went back the next day and spliced 2 of the 3 wires (the third was, somehow, still intact). my car was back in action.
yesterday it stranded me again. on the side of the road this time. my dad came and helped me tow it into a grocery store parking lot, which is where it now sits. one of the hall sensor wires broke -- INSIDE of the distributor. i don't have clearance to reach it, so i can't splice it together again. so, any suggestions? are these wires hardwired to the distributor? are there any crazy saab tricks to fix it, or do i have to buy a new distributor? thanks!
