When I purchased my 900 T convertible, the previous owner said he disconnected the security system because his wife kept setting it off by accident. I just recently went underneath the back seat, and plugged it back in because I wanted it working. The owner's manual says that the system will chirp the siren, and arm 45-60 seconds after the last door is closed. The LED on the dashboard is supposed to flash every 4 seconds when the car is sitting unattended.
When I plugged in the module underneath the back seat, the alarm chirped so I know it's working, but that's the only sound I ever heard out of the alarm. I shook the car, and even tried the shock detector switch in the console, but I could not set it off. The light on top the dashboard doesn't blink, but stays on steady. It will go out when the car is started and driven
What's going on with this thing (improper arming procedure, mis-configuration, external wiring issue)? Is it time for a new system? I was figuring I could get this system working till I decide on a good aftermarket system. What do you all recommend for a good aftermarket system? I want one that will remotely unlock the doors and arm / disarm the alarm.
