You have to use the *VDO* sender that is appropriate for the gauge if you are using VDO gauges. For example, if you have a 0-150 pounds per square foot VDO gauge, you need to get the sender for the same range. If you take a look at egauges.com, you'll see they carry VDO senders in different ranges, with different threads to fit various applications. It is therefore possible to get the proper sender for most any VDO gauge out there.
As far as wiring 'in parallel' for a C900 - the only gauge that *might* work for is the existing water temp gauge in the dash module. I'm not sure of the range of the factory gauge - I strongly suspect it's 0-250 degrees F for U.S. market cars, but since it's not calibrated (i.e. it just has L, N and H markings), who knows? For all I know, it's calibrated in degrees celcius.
The factory 'idiot light' for oil pressure is just that - you can't effectively connect a VDO pressure gauge in parallel with it and get accurate readings. Having said that, you *can* get a VDO sender with a second output that will send a signal to the 'idiot light' when pressure drops to a certain level - e.g. 7 or 10 lbs or so.
