Infinity 6x9 installed, need advice (long)...

Just replaced my Kenwood 4x10s with the Infinity Kappa 692.5i 6x9s. I tried to use the 4x10 adapters, but there's no way that big fat magnet would ever fit in that tight spot. I reluctantly broke out the saw and went to work on the parcel shelf. I really didn't want to use the basket covers that came with the speakers, so I tried to make it look as stock as possible: Before cutting my rectangular openings for the speakers, I used a razor and cut out a rectangle of felt that would overlap the bare plywood and speaker. I left myself about 1.5" of exposed wood to add some adhesive and re-stick the felt piece right over the speaker making sure it doesn't sag. The sound doesn't seem to suffer at all and it looks almost like it wasn't cut at all. Best of all: stealth speakers. I'll post pics later.
As for the sound, I have never heard so much bass in a 6x9 before. No sub required. The swiveling tweeter puts out just enough highs to let you know it's there and to even out some of that powerful bass. Therein lies the problem. I have Kenwood 4-inch 2-ways up front that are now really exposed as lacking in mid-range. I have a big hole between my lows and highs. What speakers should I put up front that will provide adequate mid-range? Experiences?
Thanks for the advice,
Brian
