Used my shade tree DIYer common sense, the search engine on this forum and the Haynes manual. Luckly I have several cars so I could take my time on this project. Take the hood off(I have always loved this feature on the classic Saab) if you can,(takes 30 sec. plus some ones help lifting) sure makes engine work a heck of alot easier. Just store it on top of the car with a banket to protect the car top. I have a complete socket set and wrench set, etc. nothing fancy. And did I mention.....alittle common sense. Afterall,I am 51 and have been DIYing on my cars since I was about 14. I have all the scars and horror stories to prove it! Also a hydralic jack makes this job much easier. Just take your time and be patient and try and have some fun. That's what it's all about, right? At times it can be somewhat of a PITA but I just keep thinking of the money I am saving, the personal satisfaction of doing a bang up job, and the great ride that results from new motor mounts! Can't tell you how long it actually took since I spread it out over a week and was doing other things on the car as well. I just know I saved a ton of money doing it myself. Down here in Houston, dealership mechanics are getting darn close to the $100 an hour rate while independent are easily in the $50-65 an hour and up range.Just read up and do it! Remember, we are always here to help if you get in a jam.
