sticking AIC valve? Posted by JimBlake [Email] (#141) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JimBlake) on Wed, 7 Jan 2004 11:45:40 In Reply to: Try this!, CTC, Wed, 7 Jan 2004 11:30:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Here's how it's SUPPOSED to work...
Throttle closed, coasting, over 2000rpm. Your AIC valve is completely closed, and the ECU has quit firing the fuel injectors. When you disengage the clutch, the revs drop quickly. The fuel supply has to resume, and the AIC valve has to open to hold the idle.
So if your AIC valve doesn't swing open nice & fast, the revs drop so quick that it dies before it has a chance to stabilize the idle. On our '89 non-turbo, that was one of the first symptoms that I needed to clean the AIC valve.
